A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure to sit on a portfolio panel for BCIT's New Media Design Program. I was asked as a friend and alumni of this program to share my expertise and experience as a professional in this field by giving valuable feedback to this graduating class.

There are so many programs today that allow you to create music from your home with out even stepping foot into a professional recording studio. In fact you can even create great works with out even knowing how to play a single  instrument.

There is a problem in the world of the internet. There is simply too much information out there! Why even bother searching on Google or MSN or Yahoo.. if the results give you a million choices?  And I don't want Google or Microsoft to decide what I see, and what I don't.  How are you to know which choice you make is the one that best meets your needs? And when you do find an excellent website, is making it a "favourite" enough?

Wouldn't it be nice if that website told you that they have new content appropriate to you! Welcome to RSS.

As a graphic designer you are always facing deadlines and as an artist you strive to create original masterpieces every TIME. It's time that is a major factor when working with deadlines, so how do you cut down all the time it takes to source images and textures? Ideally it'd be great to spend time searching and photographing the right textures or staging beautiful photography sessions but there's another factor involved: BUDGET.

Short Deadlines + Modest Budget = Resourcefulness!
