And when it is clear and sunny.. what is the expression?
The Media FX Group was recent hired to produce the video-wall for BC Ferries downtown vacation destination travel center across from the new convention center. An excellent idea. This is one reason why private enterprise works. Under government direction, this would never happen. But luckily for us and our partners Acumen, Burnkit and ProSound, we will be creating a world-class museum quality production at the base of the Fairmont Hotel across from the Olympic cauldron.
Even with BC Ferries being one of the largest ferry operators in the world, carrying more than 8.1 million vehicles and 20.7 million passengers on 187,000 sailings last year, I don't think this production would have happened. Certainly not under an NDP government. Instead, and largely due to the success of the Olympics, Vancouver will see much more tourism, and this video-wall will push tourists to all parts of our beautiful BC. Sharing the revenue of this huge cash cow.
This last weekend I went on a tour of BC (3 days) taking some 2000 photos. We really wanted to use stock photos, but could not. Our requirements for a minimum 12,000 pixel wide panoramic photos were too rare for the typical online stock library. Instead, we reverted to "carpe diem" -- seize the day. And boy what a day! In fact 3 days of beautiful weather, a good digital SLR and a trained monkey in BC could to a phenomenal job. No disrespect to professional photographers. But in my humble opinion, if you know your camera (and it's a good one), all the composition training in the world wouldn't make a difference on a weekend like the last one.
Now before you review the results, please keep in mind, that these small web photos were stiched together by the computer. Our intention is to select some good ones for the real show, and manually stich them with Photoshop.
Here is just a sampling of what I captured:
